Calgary's Best Places to Work 2006

BD&P has been named one of the Best Places to Work by Calgary Inc. in the magazine's June 2006 issue.

For the second time in as many surveys, BD&P has been named one of the Best Places to Work. Calgary Inc. headlined the 2006 BD&P coverage with "The Spirit of Live and Let Live". Writer Carol Harrington noted some of the reasons why BD&P was considered a Best Place to Work: the flexibilty of hours and workweek, staff is treated with equality and respect, and a casual, professional atmosphere.

Calgary Inc. noted BD&P's employee benefits such as the "scholarship fund for staff's children, annual lawyer trips, emergency child care service, group RRSP plan, paid Blue Cross coverage, lawyers' lounge with daily chef-prepared hot lunches, subsidized staff lunch and lots of social parties. Each December, employees are given $40 for each unused sick day. A strong commitment to community giving - staff raised $225,000 for the United Way Campaign 2005."

"In the end, what defined Calgary's Best Places to Work was quite simple. The best organizations are the ones that are able to balance the various components of what makes a healthy workplace - firms that have the dynamics, dedication and culture of a small company, offer the incentive actions and benefits associated with large firms, have a solid image and reputation and the trust and respect of employees."
