Habitat for Humanity Calgary works in partnership with low-income families and the community to build hope through the construction of simple, decent and affordable homes for Calgary's families in need. BD&P partnered with Habitat for Humanity Calgary for 15 years spanning from 2002 to 2017 to help address the crisis in affordable housing in our city. Together, we have built a relationship of which we are immensely proud - including funding the cost of the annual building of a home between 2002 and 2013 and the provision of BD&P (and often client) volunteer builders. We can now look back on 11 successful builds!
In 2012, BD&P supported Habitat for Humanity Calgary as presenting sponsor at Calgary's fourth annual Women Build Week in the month of May. The 2012 Habitat's Women Build Week helped in housing two families: a single mother with five children and a single father with two daughters. BD&P sent an all-woman crew of lawyers and clients to participate at an Auburn Bay build site in southeast Calgary on Monday, May 7, 2012 where they helped erect the frame of the two-storey, semi-detached duplex.
BD&P volunteers have been thrilled with the build experience over the years – from learning new skills to fostering team work – volunteers felt an incredible sense of accomplishment.
BD&P became involved in a different way in 2013, signing a 3 year contract with Habitat for Humanity Calgary whereby BD&P became Habitat for Humanity Southern Alberta's Partner in Safety until the end of 2016. BD&P's sponsorship enabled Habitat to achieve its COR Safety Certification, a building industry and government recognized certification that demonstrates Habitat's commitment to excellence in safety.
