We are excited about the launch of our BD&P World Stage 2019/2020 program in October, 2019. It will be the 20th season of BD&P partnership with The Arts Commons in facilitating performances of exciting musical talent from around the world for the benefit of music lovers in Calgary. This season will bring an eclectic mix of artists from around the world; from Spain, France, latin America and Canada. We are proud to support arts and culture, and the inspiration that unites us through a universal language of music. As has become the signature of the BD&P World Stage, it will be full of interesting and artistic collaborations across cultures and musical genres.
Our BD&P guests will regularly be provided with detailed information about each concert, all held in the Jack Singer Concert Hall at Arts Commons, along with information on how to RSVP to desired concerts.

Flamenco Legends: The Paco de Lucia Project - Wednesday, October 30, 2019
The band’s getting back together! Ten-time Latin Grammy winner Javier Limón has reassembled the original musicians that toured with legendary flamenco guitarist Paco de Lucia during the last 10 years of his career. They reunite for a show that celebrates de Lucia’s immense skills, while forging a new path in the future of flamenco.
Paco de Lucia was considered by many to be Spain’s greatest musical export, having performed and recorded with musical legends like Eric Clapton, Chick Corea, and Carlos Santana. Over five decades, de Lucia is credited with single-handedly reinventing the flamenco vocabulary. Producer Javier Limón, a collaborator of de Lucia’s, lovingly crafted this tribute to honour his friend. The band also features de Lucia’s nephew, Antonio Sánchez, on guitar.

We Shall Overcome: A Celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. - Thursday, February 27, 2020
The words and actions of Dr. King continue to electrify generations of civil rights activist and defenders. Musical Director Damien Sneed, known for his work as musical director of the Aretha Franklin Band, bottles that energy, and unleashes it on-stage through a living lineage of music and culture, including gospel, jazz, and Broadway. Songs from storied artists like Aretha Franklin, Billie Holiday, Steve Wonder, and Nina Simone and interwoven with spoken word from Dr. King’s recorded speeches. He’s joined onstage by five powerful singers and a quartet of genre-crossing musicians.
A celebrated multi-genre recording artist, Damien Sneed has also worked with legends including Diana Ross, Stevie Wonder, Jessye Norman and many others.

La Santa Cecilia - Thursday, April 2, 2020
Named after the patron saint of music, La Santa Cecilia’s bold musical direction more than earns the moniker. A modern-day hybrid of Latin culture, rock, and world music, the band draws inspiration from all over the world, including jazz, tango, bossa-nova, and klezmer music. Based out of Los Angeles, they have become the voice of America’s young, bi-cultural generation.
Leaning into their Latin American and Mexican heritage, the group won a Grammy for Best Latin Rock album in 2014 and have earned nominations for their last two albums. With songs focusing on love, loss, and heartbreak, they’ve cut tracks in a mixture of English and Spanish.
