Steven LeBlanc-Gauthier

During his time at the University of Alberta / Faculté Saint-Jean, Steven obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Sociology and received a Certificate in Globalization and Governance. His experience is grounded in years spent as a litigation support consultant, as a paralegal and as a litigation support analyst, for national and international law firms.

Steven provides guidance to our lawyers and clients on all phases of the Electronic Discovery Reference Model, project planning, budgeting, and e-discovery technology. He is an expert on software platforms such as Ipro Automated Digital Discovery, the industry-leading e-discovery technology used in-house at BD&P, in addition to Relativity, CaseMap and Summation. Steven is often engaged to consult on the employment of early case assessment strategies, analytics, and predictive coding technology as a way to create more efficient, streamlined document reviews. In addition, he has conducted dozens of data collections in large, highly sensitive matters and frequently assists clients with data mapping and preservation strategies. His goal is to reduce client costs, while leveraging leading edge technology to improve outcomes.

Our litigation support team oversees extremely complex projects and advises and assists with evidence administration, electronic discovery, databases, management of large review teams and trial presentations. Steven specializes in the use of analytical tools to facilitate, timely and accurate analysis of discovery and real time support at trial and during questioning. He actively participates in the management of e-discovery infrastructure, technical troubleshooting and providing solutions. Steven is passionate about mentoring and pays particular attention to training our litigation support team, students and lawyers, to better serve our clients.

Over the years, Steven has dealt with all levels of the courts from Small Claims to the Supreme Court of Canada and in a number of civil litigation practice areas, both Plaintiff and Defence, including construction, commercial, corporate, business, aviation, personal injury, medical malpractice, labour and regulatory.
