Gary maintains a broad tax practice focused on corporate and commercial tax structuring, tax controversy and dispute resolution, and cross-border and commodity tax matters. He advises clients on mergers and acquisitions, tax-deferred corporate reorganizations, business successions, and commercial agreements, while also assisting clients in navigating disputes with the Canada Revenue Agency, including audits, objections, voluntary disclosures, and court appeals.
Before joining private practice, Gary served as a judicial law clerk at the Federal Court in Ottawa, where he gained valuable experience in federal statutory interpretation, administrative decision-making, and procedural strategy. He is also currently completing CPA Canada's In-Depth Tax Program.
Gary earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Calgary, a Master of Arts from the University of Toronto, and a Bachelor of Arts (First-Class Honours) from McGill University. He was called to the Ontario Bar in 2026 and is anticipated to be admitted to the Alberta Bar in 2026.
When asked what attracted him to BD&P, Gary reflected "I had an outstanding experience as a summer student. I look forward to working alongside the talented people here."
