Experience

Prior to joining BD&P, Peter previously worked at a national law firm in Calgary advising on the implications of regulatory and environmental regimes within the energy sector. Peter has also advised on mergers and acquisitions and corporate disclosures, and has appeared before administrative tribunals such as the Alberta Utilities Commission and the Canada Energy Regulator (formerly the National Energy Board).

Prior to working at a national law firm, Peter was legal counsel to the Government of Alberta advising on energy and trade matters including petroleum and natural gas tenure and royalty, procurement, project development, carbon capture and storage, geothermal, insolvency and trade disputes. While at the Government of Alberta, Peter advised on high-profile mandates such as the Quest Carbon Capture and Storage Project, Alberta Carbon Trunk Line, the Northwest Redwater Partnership and Westmoreland’s investor-state dispute under the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Prior to entering the practice of law, Peter worked with Alberta Health Services, the Office of the Chief Medical officer of Health, and an international biotechnology company in matters of public health.
